The new Essen Central Library, designed by MVRDV in collaboration with includi and Meyer Architekten, transforms a former department store into a 10,000 m² cultural hub that redefines the library's role as a "third place" for community interaction. Set to open on October 24, 2026, this project aims to create an inclusive environment that addresses social isolation and fosters engagement among diverse citizens of Essen.
